Stories On Style

I am so excited to introduce this month’s Mums in Style guest, Blanca Miró Scrimieri. Blanca is a Spanish fashion consultant, successful entrepreneur, and creative director known for her eclectic style and significant influence in the fashion industry. I first met Blanca at the pop-up of her hugely popular brand, La Veste, in London’s Notting Hill and couldn’t resist buying her signature check shirts. I love to dress them up and down all year long.

Balance:
C:You are so inspiring. You run three very successful ventures – La Veste, Delarge & À Table! By Blanca and are the most wonderful mother to beautiful baby Matilda. How do you strike the balance between work and motherhood?
B: It’s definitely a constant learning process! I try to stay organized, prioritize what truly matters, and accept that I can’t do everything perfectly all the time. Having a strong support team, both at work and at home, definitely makes a huge difference. I also remind myself to be present in whatever I’m doing. If I’m working, I focus 100% on that (but always connected with the baby), and when I’m with my daughter, I give her my full attention. Balance isn’t about doing it all, I believe it’s about knowing where to put your energy at the right time!
C: We adore La Veste and loved visiting you and Maria in your London Pop-Up.. The brand is going from strength to strength, and congratulations on the launch of your Paris store. What’s next for La Veste?
B: Thank you! :) It’s been such an exciting journey. This year, we’re planning some amazing pop-ups around the world, some in cities we’ve been to before and others in completely new places! And of course, after opening our first boutique in Paris, the dream is to expand further. A second, third, even fourth store in other cities would be incredible, and we’re working towards making that happen!
C: Favourite way to unwind?
B: Spending time in nature, whether it’s a walk in the countryside, mountains or by the sea. I also love a good dinner with friends, nothing too complicated, just great food, conversation, and good wine, and even better if I can host it at home! I love hosting and setting up a beautiful, fun table.
C: What’s the one thing about motherhood that no one ever told you?
B: How much you learn about yourself in the process. It challenges you in ways you don’t expect, but it also makes you see things from a completely different perspective.
C: What does your perfect evening look like?
B: A relaxed dinner at home with family or friends. Good food, a nicely set table, music in the background, and a moment to slow down after a busy day.
Family Time:
C: Favourite family activity?
B: Being outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a little weekend escape, or just visiting museums, and of course some vintage shopping such as clothing or antiques! I love to find a good antique fair. Fresh air and movement always make everyone feel good.
C: Favourite bedtime story?
B: I love classic children’s books, but honestly, the best stories are the ones we make up on the spot. A little creativity before bedtime is always fun. I love playing with Matilda, changing my voice for different characters and making the books come to life.
C: Favourite Summer activities in Barcelona?
B: Long lunches outside, walks by the sea, and simply enjoying the city as it comes to life. Barcelona is full of energy, and there’s always something happening.
Style:
C: Do you think your style has changed since having children?
B: Not really, but I do appreciate comfort more when it comes to walking with the baby stroller around the city. But I have to say I still love experimenting with fashion, it’s my passion.
C: What are staples for your children’s new season wardrobes?
B: Good knitwear, beautiful shirts with big collars, jumpsuits, stripes and plaid pieces and a few beautiful but practical pieces that can be dressed up or down. I love pieces with a vintage touch, something that feels classic but always with a fun twist, and of course, it has to be comfortable. Timeless style is key.
C: Go-to gift ideas for a new arrival?
B: A mix of something practical and something special! Maybe a soft blanket, a classic outfit, and a little book to grow with them.
C: Three essentials you always have in your handbag?
B: Lip balm, sunglasses, and a notebook. I still love writing things down!
C: What’s on your La Coqueta Wish List?
B: Beautiful cotton and timeless pieces that work for any occasion. La Coqueta always does classic style so well!
