Balance: 

C: You are founder and creative director of M-AKE and mother to your three gorgeous girls: Kelly, Kaya & Khloé. With so much going on, how do you strike the balance between work and motherhood?

M: Some days are smooth, some are chaotic, but I try to be present wherever I am. When I’m with the girls, I’m  fully in mum mode. When I’m working, I focus. They inspire my creativity, so it all blends beautifully.

C: Favourite way to unwind?
M: A warm bath, a candle, and no phone. Or I love to go for a long walk. 

C: What’s the one thing about motherhood that no one ever told you?
M:  How much your heart expands, and how much laundry comes with it!

C: What does your perfect evening look like?
M:  A cozy dinner at home with all of us in our pajamas, followed by story time with our full attention on the girls, and then a quiet moment for me and my love once they are all asleep.

Family Time: 

C: Favourite family activity?
M: Ever since the girls were very little, we’ve loved listening to music and dancing together. Every night after dinner, we turn on the music and all of us end up dancing in the living room. The girls absolutely love it. It brings so much joy, and it’s always so much fun.

C: Favourite bedtime story?
M: It changes all the time, but right now the two big girls love Peppa Pig. And yes, Peppa Pig is also a big  thing in our home!


C: Favourite holiday traditions?
M: Matching pyjamas, decorating the tree, going to the Christmas markets and eating “Æbleskriver” (danish pancake balls).

C: Where will you and your family be spending Christmas this year? What does Christmas morning look like in your home? We imagine it’s a hive of excitement and joy!
M: It changes every year, but this Christmas we’re spending the holiday at my parents’ home in Mallorca. Even though there’s no snow or cold weather, we still manage to get into the festive spirit. We start the day with a lovely Christmas brunch and then simply enjoy a relaxing afternoon until evening. That’s when we gather for dinner, sing around the Christmas tree, and open gifts. The girls can never wait all day, so we always let them open one present each earlier on. I just love this time of year and having the whole family together.

Style: 

C: We adore your style and the way you dress your girls – what is your approach to holiday dressing? Both your own wardrobe and the children’s.
M: Timeless, soft, and festive - but always comfortable! Comfort is key. 

C: Do you think your style has changed since having your three daughters?
M: I would say no, but I’m definitely wearing more practical clothes now, and I’ve learned not to freak out when my white outfits get dirty. With three girls under four, it happens all the time!

C: We would love to hear how you plan to style the girls for the following occasions?

C: Go-to gift ideas for a new arrival?
M: A knitted blanket or a classic romper. 

C: Three essentials you always have in your handbag.
M: Diapers, pacifiers, and wet wipes. Again, I am a mom of small kiddos. 

C: We adore all that you do and would like to round up the conversation by asking, what’s next for you?
M: Growing M-KAE with intention, with a few exciting creative projects on the way. And always striving to be the best mother I can be for my children.
